Erin Johnston is a science illustrator and visual artist currently residing in St. Louis, Missouri. She holds a bachelors degree in Wildlife Biology from The Evergreen State College, a post baccalaureate in Studio Art from Eastern Washington University, and a Master of Fine Arts from The Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. With extensive experience in biological field research and visual art practices, she combines her knowledge of both realms to create work that is aesthetic and scientifically accurate. She is the illustrator of the field guide, Búhos de Colombia, and has work featured in Neotropical Birding and Conservation’s annual journal, Cotinga. She has designed and fabricated murals in Washington, including the interior of the City Council Chambers in Spokane’s City Hall. Erin accepts requests for private and public commissions from publishing biologists as well as casual lovers of science illustration.
